NamePing Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
NamePing helps you remember people's names at the places you visit. It is designed so that your information stays with you. We do not run servers that receive your data, we do not use analytics, and we do not show ads.
What the app stores
The names, roles, notes, photos, and places you save are stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your private iCloud database. That database is tied to your Apple Account and is not accessible to us. Your settings are stored on your device and synced through iCloud in the same way.
Location
With your permission, the app uses your location to find nearby businesses when you add a person and to notice when you arrive at a place you have saved. Location is processed on your device. We do not receive it. You can choose "While Using the App" and still use every feature while the app is open. If you want arrival reminders while the app is closed, you can turn on background reminders in Settings, which asks for "Always" permission. You can change either choice at any time in iOS Settings.
Microphone and speech recognition
If you dictate a name, the app uses your microphone and Apple's speech recognition to turn your voice into text. Apple may process that audio on its servers to provide recognition, as described in Apple's privacy policy. The app does not record or keep audio. You can type instead of dictating.
Contacts and photos
Importing from Contacts uses the system contact picker. Only the contacts you choose are copied into the app. Adding a photo uses the system photo picker in the same way. The app does not read your contacts or photo library in the background.
Notifications
Arrival reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. Nothing is sent to us to deliver them.
Maps
Business search and the map use Apple Maps. Your searches are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Tracking
The app does not track you across other apps or websites and contains no third-party advertising or analytics code.
Deleting your data
You can delete any person or place inside the app. Deleting the app removes its data from your device. To remove the synced copy, open iOS Settings, choose your name, then iCloud, Manage Storage, and delete NamePing's data.
Children
NamePing is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
